Have morenotions

In Ireland, having notions means reaching above your station. At Tech Week 2026 we took that word to Nasdaq and made it a call to arms. For 2027, we want the whole room to have more of them.

Ireland has a word for ambition. It isn't a compliment.

We grow up being told not to get notions: keep the head down, don't get above yourself, don't make a show of us. It's a lovely instinct for modesty and a terrible strategy for building global companies.

Digital Irish Tech Week is where Irish founders, investors and the diaspora in New York unlearn it, together.

no·tions

/ˈnəʊ.ʃənz/

noun, plural · Hiberno-English, informal

  1. 1.Ideas above one's station.“Would you look at him, with his notions.”
  2. 2.Ambition, said out loud. The belief that an Irish company can lead its category, raise in New York and build for the world from day one.

Go on. Get notions.

  • Build for the world from day one.

Not Ireland first and the world eventually. Your second market can be your biggest.

  • Ask for the bigger cheque.

Raise for the market you're going after, not the one you grew up in.

  • Take the meeting that feels out of your league.

Somebody in that room is Irish, or Irish-American, and wants to help.

  • Picture your name on the tower.

We met at Nasdaq in 2026. One day an Irish founder in that room will be back for their own listing.

We said it at Nasdaq.

Conference Day 2026 was hosted at Nasdaq, and our message from the stage was simple: more ambition, more notions. 2027 is where we hold ourselves to it.
